Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NDV-3 vaccine without alum is a recombinant vaccine containing the N-terminal portion of the Candida albicans surface protein Als3 (Als3p), which facilitates Candida adherence to and invasion of human endothelial cells. It is the first vaccine to demonstrate "cross-kingdom" protective efficacy against both fungal and bacterial pathogens, including Candida species and Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA). The vaccine was developed based on research showing that the Als family of proteins induce protective immunity in preclinical models. Clinical studies have shown that NDV-3 without alum is safe, well-tolerated, and induces rapid antibody and T-cell responses after a single dose.
