Overview

NDV-f0-GFP is a recombinant, lentogenic (low-pathogenicity) strain of the Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) engineered to express Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) as a reporter gene. As an oncolytic virus, it selectively infects and replicates within tumor cells, such as glioblastoma, by exploiting deficiencies in the host cell's antiviral interferon signaling pathways. The "f0" designation refers to the fusion (F) protein, which is a critical determinant of viral entry and spread; in lentogenic strains, the F protein cleavage site is typically restricted to specific extracellular proteases, enhancing its safety profile. NDV-f0-GFP is being investigated for its ability to induce direct oncolysis and stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response through the release of cytokines and tumor-associated antigens.
