Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Neem leaf protein extract is a biological preparation derived from the leaves of the *Azadirachta indica* tree, a plant with a long history in Ayurvedic and Unani medicine. The extract is prepared through a process of defatting with n-hexane, buffer extraction, and ammonium sulfate precipitation, resulting in a mixture of proteins typically ranging from 10 to 37 kDa. Proteomic analysis has identified approximately 17 distinct proteins within the extract that exhibit potent cytotoxic and inhibitory effects against triple-negative breast cancer cell lines, such as MDA-MB-231. While the specific molecular targets are still under investigation, the extract represents a potential plant-derived therapeutic candidate for oncology, specifically targeting aggressive breast cancer subtypes.
