neisseria meningitidis group A polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus toxoid is a monovalent conjugate vaccine candidate developed by Sanofi Pasteur for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by serogroup A. The vaccine consists of the purified capsular polysaccharide of *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup A covalently linked to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. This conjugation process transforms the polysaccharide from a T-cell independent antigen into a T-cell dependent one, thereby inducing a more robust immune response, particularly in infants and young children, and establishing long-term immunological memory. Sanofi Pasteur conducted clinical trials on this monovalent formulation in the mid-2000s, targeting populations in the African meningitis belt. However, the candidate was not brought to market as a standalone product, as the company's commercial strategy shifted toward quadrivalent conjugate vaccines like Menactra and MenQuadfi, the latter of which also utilizes the tetanus toxoid carrier for all four included serogroups (A, C, Y, and W).
