Neisseria meningitidis group B factor H binding protein subfamily B is a recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed by Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) for the prevention of meningococcal group B infection. The vaccine consists of the subfamily B (also known as variant 1) of the factor H binding protein (fHbp), a surface lipoprotein that allows *Neisseria meningitidis* to evade the host's immune system by binding human factor H, a down-regulator of the alternative complement pathway. By inducing the production of antibodies that block this interaction, the vaccine facilitates complement-mediated bactericidal activity against the pathogen. It has been investigated in Phase 1 clinical trials to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity profile in healthy adults, typically formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant.
