Neisseria meningitidis group C capsular polysaccharide tetanus toxoid conjugate antigen is a component of several quadrivalent and bivalent vaccines designed to prevent invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C. This vaccine antigen consists of the purified capsular polysaccharide from Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C covalently linked (conjugated) to tetanus toxoid protein. The conjugation enhances immunogenicity, especially in infants and young children, by inducing a T-cell dependent immune response that leads to long-lasting immunity and immunological memory. These vaccines are primarily indicated for active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups including C[3][6][8]. Major products containing this antigen include MenQuadfi (Sanofi), Nimenrix (Pfizer), and Penbraya (Pfizer). The primary indication is prevention of invasive meningococcal disease.
