Neisseria meningitidis group w-135 capsular oligosaccharide diphtheria crm197 protein conjugate antigen is a component of certain quadrivalent and pentavalent meningococcal vaccines. It consists of the purified capsular polysaccharide (oligosaccharide) from Neisseria meningitidis serogroup W-135, which is chemically linked (conjugated) to the non-toxic mutant CRM197 protein derived from Corynebacterium diphtheriae. This conjugation enhances immunogenicity by inducing a T-cell dependent immune response, resulting in improved antibody production and immunological memory compared to unconjugated polysaccharides. The primary indication is for active immunization to prevent invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup W[1][4][6]. This antigen is included as one of four components in quadrivalent vaccines such as Menveo, which also target serogroups A, C, and Y.
