Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Neisseria meningitidis group W-135 polysaccharide-tetanus toxoid conjugate vaccine is a specialized vaccine component developed by Sanofi for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease. It consists of the purified capsular polysaccharide of serogroup W-135 Neisseria meningitidis covalently linked to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. This conjugation process is essential for converting the polysaccharide into a T-cell dependent antigen, thereby inducing high-affinity antibodies and immunological memory, which are not typically achieved with pure polysaccharide vaccines. This specific conjugate is a key constituent of Sanofi's quadrivalent meningococcal vaccine, MenQuadfi (MenACYW-TT), which provides broad protection against serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135 and was approved by the FDA in 2020 for use in individuals 2 years of age and older.
