Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B recombinant LP2086 A05 protein variant antigen is a recombinant lipidated factor H binding protein (fHBP) from subfamily A of N. meningitidis serogroup B. It is one of two key antigens in the bivalent vaccine Trumenba (the other being the B01 variant), designed for active immunization to prevent invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B. The vaccine works by inducing antibodies that target fHBP on the surface of N. meningitidis, promoting complement-mediated bactericidal activity and providing broad protection against diverse strains expressing this antigen[4][6]. Developed as part of a strategy to address the high variability among MenB strains, this component ensures coverage against isolates expressing fHBP subfamily A variants[4][9]. The primary indication is prevention of invasive MenB disease in adolescents and young adults.
