Nek2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of NIMA-related kinase 2 (Nek2), a member of the serine/threonine kinase family that serves as an essential mitotic regulator involved in centrosome splitting. Overexpression of Nek2 has been implicated in the progression and metastasis of various human malignancies, including pancreatic, cholangiocarcinoma, breast, and colorectal cancers. By facilitating the degradation of Nek2 mRNA through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, this therapeutic approach aims to inhibit tumor cell division and suppress tumorigenic growth. Preclinical studies conducted by researchers at Nagoya University have demonstrated that Nek2 siRNA can effectively reduce tumor volume and the number of liver metastases in pancreatic cancer xenograft models.
