Overview

Nelivaptan is a selective, orally active, non-peptide antagonist of the vasopressin V1b receptor. It was originally developed by Sanofi and later by HMNC Brain Health for the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression. Nelivaptan acts by blocking the vasopressin V1b receptor (AVPR1B), which is implicated in stress response and affective behaviors. The drug advanced to phase II clinical trials for major depressive disorder but its development was previously halted by Sanofi-Aventis in 2008; it has since been revived and is currently under phase II development by HMNC Brain Health[1][2][3][4][5].
