Overview

Nemolizumab is a humanized IgG2 monoclonal antibody that acts as an interleukin-31 receptor alpha (IL-31RA) antagonist. It is used for the treatment of prurigo nodularis and atopic dermatitis. By selectively binding to IL-31RA, nemolizumab inhibits IL-31-induced signaling, which plays a key role in neuroimmune communication involved in pruritus (itch), inflammation, epidermal dysregulation, and fibrosis. The drug reduces the release of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines associated with these conditions. Nemolizumab was initially developed by Chugai Pharmaceutical and later licensed globally (except Japan) to Galderma[1][5][6].
