NENF siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the neuron-derived neurotrophic factor (NENF) gene. NENF has been identified as a candidate oncogene that is frequently activated by DNA hypomethylation in various malignancies, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and bladder cancer. By targeting NENF mRNA for degradation, this siRNA inhibits cancer cell viability, anchorage-independent growth, and invasive potential. Preclinical research indicates that NENF depletion modulates key oncogenic signaling pathways, specifically the PI3K/AKT and MAPK pathways, and may also influence the DNA methylation machinery by down-regulating DNMT1 and MBD2. The therapeutic relevance of NENF siRNA has been explored in various cancer cell lines, including HepG2, SkHep1, and T24.
