Overview

Neo Emedyl is an approved fixed-dose combination drug developed by the Austrian company Pharmazeutische Fabrik Montavit for the prevention and treatment of motion sickness and travel-related disorders. Each coated tablet contains 50 mg of dimenhydrinate and 50 mg of caffeine. Dimenhydrinate is a first-generation antihistamine that acts as an H1 receptor antagonist and also possesses significant anticholinergic properties; it works by dampening overstimulation in the vestibular system and directly affecting the vomiting center in the brain to alleviate nausea and dizziness. Caffeine is included in the formulation as a central nervous system stimulant to counteract the sedative effects typically associated with dimenhydrinate, thereby helping to maintain alertness and performance in travelers. The drug is indicated for symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting associated with travel by sea, air, rail, or road.
