Neochlorogenic acid is a natural polyphenolic compound belonging to the quinic acids and derivatives class, found in various fruits, vegetables, and plants including peaches, quince, chicory, white cabbage, and grape wine[1][2][9]. It is an isomer of chlorogenic acid. Neochlorogenic acid is recognized for its antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, hepatoprotective, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, anti-obesity, anti-diabetes, and anticarcinogenic properties[1][3]. In vitro studies indicate it inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β, suppresses iNOS and COX-2 protein expression, and reduces LPS-induced NO production in microglial cells, suggesting a neuroprotective effect through anti-inflammatory pathways[1][8]. There is no evidence it was developed as a pharmaceutical by a specific company; it is primarily studied as a natural bioactive compound[3].
