Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Neodolpasse is a fixed-dose combination infusion solution containing the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac and the centrally acting muscle relaxant orphenadrine. Developed and manufactured by Fresenius Kabi, it is indicated for the short-term treatment of acute pain syndromes, including postoperative pain and acute vertebrogenic pain. Diclofenac provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Orphenadrine reduces muscle tension associated with pain through its action as a non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist and has additional antihistaminic and anticholinergic properties. The Medical University of Vienna has investigated its efficacy in patients undergoing elective cruciate ligament surgery to assess its analgesic properties compared to diclofenac monotherapy.
