Overview

Neoleish is a veterinary DNA vaccine developed by the Zendal Group and marketed through its animal health subsidiary, Vetia. It is indicated for the active immunization of leishmaniasis-negative dogs from six months of age to reduce the risk of developing a clinical infection and/or clinical signs after exposure to *Leishmania infantum*. As the first DNA vaccine for dogs authorized in the European Union, Neoleish utilizes a plasmid DNA (pVC-LACK) that encodes the LACK (Leishmania homolog of receptors for activated C kinase) protein. This antigen is highly conserved across *Leishmania* species and is known to trigger a potent Th1 cell-mediated immune response, which is essential for protective immunity against the intracellular parasite. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection.
