Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NeoMTA Plus is a bioactive, tricalcium silicate-based bioceramic dental cement developed and manufactured by Avalon Biomed. It is designed for use in various endodontic procedures, including pulpotomies, pulp capping, root-end fillings, and as an endodontic sealer. As a refined version of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA), it utilizes tantalum oxide as a radiopacifier instead of bismuth oxide to prevent tooth discoloration, a common issue with earlier MTA formulations. The material is known for its high alkalinity, release of calcium ions, and ability to promote the formation of hydroxyapatite, which facilitates the healing of dental pulp and the formation of a protective mineralized barrier. Clinical evaluations, including those conducted by Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry, have focused on its color stability and efficacy in primary teeth compared to traditional treatments like formocresol.
