Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vioplex-T is a topical antibacterial combination product formulated as a skin spray powder. It contains two active pharmaceutical ingredients: neomycin sulfate, an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, and bacitracin, a cyclic polypeptide antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting the dephosphorylation of C55-isoprenyl pyrophosphate. Developed by D.A.S.T. Biotech Pharm in Greece, the product is indicated for the treatment of bacterial skin and mucosal infections and the prevention of wound infections. It has also been evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial for its efficacy and safety in promoting the healing of stage II–III pressure ulcers.
