Overview

Neomycin + dexamethasone + xylometazoline is a multi-component pharmaceutical combination that would theoretically combine three active ingredients with distinct mechanisms of action. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, providing antibacterial activity. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, acting primarily by modulating gene expression to suppress pro-inflammatory mediators[2][5]. Xylometazoline is a direct-acting alpha-adrenergic agonist used as a nasal decongestant; it works by stimulating alpha-adrenoceptors in the nasal mucosa, leading to vasoconstriction and reduced swelling[4]. While combinations of neomycin and dexamethasone (often with polymyxin B) are marketed for ophthalmic use, there are no widely recognized or approved products combining all three agents (neomycin, dexamethasone, and xylometazoline) in one formulation. Such a combination could theoretically be used for local treatment of infections or inflammation involving both antimicrobial action and symptomatic relief from congestion.
