Neon

Neon is a noble gas element (atomic number 10) that finds various applications in medical and scientific contexts. As a gas, it can be used in mixtures to alter gas density and viscosity, which is being investigated in studies related to pharyngeal collapse in sleep apnea. In its ionized form, neon ions are being explored for precision radiotherapy, particularly for treating radioresistant and hypoxic tumors, due to their high relative biological effectiveness and low oxygen enhancement ratio. Additionally, neon is a key component in Helium-Neon lasers, which are medical devices used in low-level laser therapy for various conditions. The element also appears in the name of a medical device, Pupil Neon eye-tracking glasses, and is used in various chemical and physical studies.
