Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Neosalus is a prescription, nonsteroidal topical dermatologic product line (cream, lotion, and foam) that uses a patented water–lipid Proderm Technology to provide skin barrier repair, protection, and hydration in patients with various dermatoses, including atopic dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.[1][2][4][6] The formulations are classified pharmacologically as nonsteroidal antipruritics/skin protectant dressings and contain excipient-type ingredients such as dimethicone to reduce transepidermal water loss, glycerin as a humectant, and stearic/palmitic acids to support ceramide and lipid production in the stratum corneum.[1][2][3][4] Neosalus received US FDA clearance in 2008–2009 as a prescription water-soluble dressing for the management and relief of irritation and inflammation associated with a variety of skin conditions, and is marketed primarily for chronic eczematous dermatoses as a steroid-sparing therapy with favorable cosmetic properties.[2][3][5][6][13][15]
