Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An epitope-based vaccine candidate developed by Neovii Biotech in collaboration with Tel Aviv University. The vaccine utilizes a proprietary platform technology developed by Prof. Jonathan Gershoni to reconstruct the Receptor Binding Motif (RBM) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The RBM is a critical 50-amino acid structure that the virus uses to bind to the human ACE2 receptor. By presenting a functionally reconstituted RBM as an immunogen, the vaccine is designed to elicit a potent and specific neutralizing antibody response against the virus's primary entry mechanism into human cells, potentially offering a more targeted immune response than full-length spike protein vaccines.
