Overview

NeoVisc is an intra-articular hyaluronic acid viscosupplement consisting of highly purified sodium hyaluronate formulated as a sterile gel for injection into the knee joint to relieve pain and improve function in patients with degenerative or mechanical osteoarthritis of the knee. It acts by temporarily replacing and augmenting synovial fluid, restoring its viscosity and elasticity to provide lubrication and shock absorption, and may stimulate endogenous hyaluronan production, thereby reducing pain and improving joint mobility for several months.[1][2][3][9] NeoVisc is marketed in Canada and other markets in multi-injection and single-injection (NeoVisc ONE) regimens and is a naturally derived, biofermented product licensed from Fidia Farmaceutici and commercialized by Aralez Pharmaceuticals Canada, doing business as Miravo Healthcare.[3]
