Overview

Nepidermin is a recombinant form of human epidermal growth factor (EGF), also known as rhEGF. It acts as an agonist of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), stimulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration. Nepidermin is primarily used as a cicatrizant to promote wound healing, especially in diabetic foot ulcers, but it has also been marketed for wounds and alopecia. The drug was originally developed by the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) and has been marketed under various trade names since 2006. It is administered via intralesional injection or topically[1][5][6][7].
