Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nerkardou is an oral dissolvable film (ODF) formulation of bisoprolol fumarate, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. Developed by Nerhadou International and studied by the Genuine Research Center in Egypt, it is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension. The drug is delivered via a thin film that dissolves rapidly on the tongue without the need for water, offering a convenient and discreet administration method that may enhance patient adherence. By selectively blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, bisoprolol reduces heart rate and cardiac output, effectively lowering blood pressure. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase IV BETTER trial to assess its safety, efficacy, and compliance in Egyptian patients.
