Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nervoprime-AQ is a veterinary pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Pure Med Farma (Pure Med Biotech). It is an aqueous formulation of methylcobalamin (mecobalamin), a coenzyme form of Vitamin B12, provided in a pre-filled syringe (PFS) for parenteral administration. The "AQ" designation typically indicates an aqueous base, which is designed to be less painful upon injection compared to traditional formulations. Methylcobalamin is essential for the maintenance of the nervous system, acting as a cofactor for the enzyme methionine synthase, which is involved in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. This process is critical for DNA synthesis and the formation and maintenance of the myelin sheath. In veterinary medicine, Nervoprime-AQ is primarily used to treat peripheral neuropathies, neurological disorders, megaloblastic anemia, and general weakness in livestock and companion animals.
