Nespecabtagene autoleucel is a Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by AbClon. It involves genetically modifying a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that specifically targets the CD19 protein found on B-cells. This re-directs the patient's immune system to recognize and eliminate CD19-expressing cancer cells. Unlike some other CD19-targeted CAR T-cell therapies, nespecabtagene autoleucel utilizes a distinct binding mechanism to target CD19 via a novel antibody (h1218), aiming to enhance efficacy and persistence. It is currently in development for the treatment of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, and marginal zone lymphoma.
