Overview

Netoglitazone (MCC-555) is an experimental hypoglycemic agent belonging to the thiazolidinedione class. It is a small molecule that acts as an insulin sensitizer and has been investigated for its potential use in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus. Like other thiazolidinediones, it is presumed to act primarily by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), thereby modulating the transcription of genes involved in glucose and lipid metabolism[6]. Netoglitazone remains investigational and has not been approved for clinical use.
