Overview

NEU-120 is a small molecule drug developed by Neurim Pharmaceuticals as a non-dopaminergic agent for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and levodopa-induced dyskinesia. It acts as a selective and non-competitive modulator of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor and also inhibits monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) and glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK-3β). The drug was investigated primarily for its potential to manage motor complications in Parkinson's disease without directly affecting dopaminergic pathways. Clinical development included phase 1/2 trials in patients with advanced idiopathic Parkinson’s disease experiencing levodopa-induced dyskinesia; however, these studies were terminated or discontinued before reaching later stages[1][2][4].
