Overview

Neu-6142 is a small molecule P2Y12 receptor antagonist being developed by Neurim Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The drug targets neuroinflammation, which is increasingly recognized as a key driver in certain ASD subtypes. The P2Y12 receptor is expressed on platelets and human microglia and is known to be elevated under neuropathologic conditions. In preclinical ASD mouse models, Neu-6142 has demonstrated the ability to reduce levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNFα and IL-6, in both the brain and plasma, subsequently alleviating ASD-like behaviors. The therapeutic goal of Neu-6142 is to address core symptoms in a subset of ASD patients who exhibit chronic neuroinflammation.
