Neu-REFIX beta glucan

Neu-REFIX beta glucan is an orally consumable, allergen-free food supplement in gel form, developed by GN Corporation in Japan. The active ingredient is a beta-1,3-1,6-glucan exo-polysaccharide produced by the N-163 strain of *Aureobasidium pullulans* yeast. It functions as a biological response modifier glucan (BRMG), acting as a pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) to trigger immune responses through pattern recognition receptors like Dectin-1 and complement receptor 3 (CR3). [4] It is primarily being investigated for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), where it has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and muscle regeneration properties in preclinical models and clinical studies. [1, 2] The product has received Rare Pediatric Disease and Orphan Drug Designations from the US FDA for DMD. [1, 7, 10] Research has also explored its potential in other conditions, including multiple sclerosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), COVID-19, and psoriasis vulgaris. [4, 11, 12] It has been commercially available in Japan as a food supplement since 2018. [1, 8]
