NeuCaVis is an investigational positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer consisting of a radiolabeled fructose analogue, [18F]4-FDF, designed to image inflammation in vivo by exploiting fructose metabolism.[2][3][6] Outside the digestive system, healthy tissues use little to no fructose, whereas inflamed neurovascular and cardiac tissues upregulate fructose transport and metabolism, allowing NeuCaVis to preferentially enter these cells and become trapped, thereby highlighting inflammatory foci on PET/CT scans.[3][4][5] Developed by Yellowbird Diagnostics, NeuCaVis is being evaluated in first‑in‑human Phase 1 studies to assess safety, dosimetry, biodistribution, and image quality for detecting neuro- and cardio-inflammation, with the goal of enabling earlier and more precise diagnosis of inflammatory diseases in the brain and heart.[2][3][4][6][9]
