Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Neuragen is a topical natural health product (NHP) formulated as an oil for the treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain. It contains a proprietary blend of plant-derived lipophilic molecules that rapidly penetrate the skin to reach affected peripheral nerves. The primary mechanism of action involves reducing the spontaneous firing (ectopic discharge) of damaged nerves, which provides rapid relief from pain associated with conditions such as diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, and fibromyalgia. Originally developed by Origin BioMed, the worldwide rights were acquired by Knight Therapeutics in 2015, though the U.S. commercial rights were subsequently divested to Synergy Strips Corp. The product is available over-the-counter (OTC) and has been evaluated in randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies.
