Neural stem cell-derived exosomes (NSC-EVs) are extracellular vesicles secreted by neural stem cells that are being investigated for their therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative diseases. These vesicles contain a complex cargo of proteins, lipids, and various RNA species (such as microRNAs) that can modulate neuroinflammation, promote neuroprotection, and stimulate regenerative processes in the central nervous system. In clinical development, NSC-EVs are being evaluated via intranasal administration, a route intended to bypass the blood-brain barrier and deliver the therapeutic cargo directly to the brain. The primary focus of current clinical research is the treatment of moderate-to-severe early-onset Alzheimer's disease, where they are hypothesized to mitigate cognitive decline and neurodegeneration.
