NeuroCell-PD is an investigational cell transplant therapy developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The therapy consists of porcine (fetal pig) neural dopaminergic cells and/or their precursors, which are aseptically prepared and coated with anti-MHC-1 antibodies for intracerebral implantation. The rationale behind this approach is to replace or supplement the lost dopaminergic neurons in patients with Parkinson's disease by implanting these xenogeneic (cross-species) neural precursor cells directly into the brain. This method aims to restore dopamine production in affected regions of the brain, potentially improving motor symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease[1][3][5]. Clinical trials have included sham surgery controls to rigorously assess efficacy and safety[3].
