Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NeuroDirect Ketamine is a patented topical formulation of ketamine developed by Psycheceutical Bioscience for the treatment of mental health disorders, primarily post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Unlike traditional systemic ketamine treatments, such as intravenous infusions or intranasal sprays, NeuroDirect is designed as a non-systemic cream applied to the back of the neck. This delivery method targets free nerve endings to provide rapid therapeutic effects—potentially within minutes—while bypassing the blood-brain barrier in a way that minimizes the hallucinogenic and dissociative side effects typically associated with systemic ketamine administration. The active ingredient, ketamine, acts as an NMDA receptor antagonist. The drug has completed a Phase 1 single-ascending-dose clinical trial in healthy volunteers to evaluate safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics, with further development planned for PTSD and other neuropsychiatric conditions.
