Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NeuroRestore is a drug development platform and series of small molecule candidates developed by AlzeCure Pharma, with ACD856 as the lead compound. It functions as a positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of Tropomyosin receptor kinase (Trk) receptors, specifically enhancing the signaling of neurotrophins such as Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) and Nerve Growth Factor (NGF). By strengthening these pathways, the drug aims to improve cognitive function, learning, and memory, while potentially offering neuroprotective and disease-modifying effects. It is primarily being developed for Alzheimer's disease but has potential applications in Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injury, sleep apnea, depression, and obesity.
