Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Neurotec is a herbal formulation developed in Iran, primarily investigated by the Iran Rheumatology Center for the management of fibromyalgia syndrome and other chronic inflammatory conditions. It is a standardized combination of three botanical extracts: *Rosa canina* (dog rose), *Tanacetum vulgare* (tansy), and *Urtica dioica* (stinging nettle). The therapeutic effects of Neurotec are attributed to its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Mechanistically, it has been shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, specifically tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and to reduce oxidative stress markers. Clinical studies, including multi-centre randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trials, have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing pain scores and improving functional outcomes in patients with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, often with a favorable safety profile compared to conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
