Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nevxal Forte is a topical ophthalmic suspension containing nepafenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) prodrug. Developed and manufactured by Orchidia Pharmaceutical, it is indicated for the prevention and treatment of pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery. Upon administration, nepafenac penetrates the cornea and is converted by ocular tissue hydrolases into amfenac, a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes. This inhibition reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are key mediators of ocular inflammation and pain. The formulation is typically preserved with benzalkonium chloride and is marketed primarily in Egypt and surrounding regions.
