Drug intelligence / Profile preview
New Biofermin S Plus Tablets is a probiotic combination product developed by Biofermin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Taisho Pharmaceutical). It is an enhanced version of the classic 'New Biofermin S' formulation, designed to regulate the intestinal flora and improve gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation, loose stools, and abdominal bloating. The 'Plus' formulation contains four distinct strains of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria: *Bifidobacterium bifidum*, *Bifidobacterium longum*, *Enterococcus faecalis*, and *Lactobacillus acidophilus*. These strains work synergistically throughout the small and large intestines to restore microbial balance, produce organic acids (like lactic and acetic acid), and inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria. The product is marketed in Japan as a Designated Quasi-drug for intestinal regulation.
