Drug intelligence / Profile preview
New CB1-SSi is a discovery-stage small molecule program developed by Aelis Innovation (Aelis Farma) that utilizes a novel pharmacological approach called Signaling-Specific Inhibition (SSi). Unlike traditional CB1 receptor antagonists or inverse agonists that completely block receptor activity—often leading to adverse psychiatric effects—CB1-SSi compounds are designed to selectively inhibit the overactivation of specific intracellular pathways, such as the MAP kinase pathway, while maintaining the receptor's basal activity and other essential signaling functions. This program focuses on developing new molecular entities with original chemical structures and optimized pharmacodynamic profiles for the treatment of various cannabinoid-dependent diseases and specific orphan indications.
