Drug intelligence / Profile preview
New Wumei Pill (Xin Wumei Wan) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Dongfang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. It is a modern modification of the classic Wumei Wan formula, which was originally described in the *Shanghan Lun* for treating 'Jueyin' syndrome. The 'New' formulation is specifically optimized to address the 'cold-heat complex' pathology often observed in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. The formula typically contains a mixture of botanical ingredients such as Mume Fructus, Coptidis Rhizoma, and other herbs that work synergistically to regulate intestinal immune homeostasis, enhance intestinal barrier function, and suppress pro-inflammatory signaling pathways. It is currently being investigated in clinical trials in China as an adjunctive or standalone therapy for patients with moderate active ulcerative colitis.
