Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) vaccine is used for immunization against Newcastle disease in poultry. The vaccine is available in different forms including live virus vaccines and recombinant vector vaccines. The vector vaccines use herpesvirus of turkeys (HVT) as a vector by inserting the fusion (F) gene from Newcastle disease virus into the HVT genome. NDV vaccines work by stimulating a systematic immune response, especially mucosal immunity in the respiratory tract. The vaccine helps reduce mortality and severity of NDV symptoms in poultry and decreases the amount of virus spread.
