Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NEWR0919 is a recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor (rhHGF) formulated as eye drops for the treatment of various ocular surface disorders. Developed by Shenzhen Xinrui Gene Technology (NewR Gene), it acts as an agonist of the hepatocyte growth factor receptor (MET), also known as c-Met. The HGF/MET signaling pathway plays a critical role in ocular wound healing by promoting the proliferation and migration of corneal epithelial cells, while also providing anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects. NEWR0919 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China for indications including dry eye disease, corneal epithelial injury, corneal abrasion, and chemical burns. The drug aims to accelerate the repair of the corneal epithelium and restore ocular surface integrity.
