Newrabell is a pharmaceutical drug that contains Rabeprazole Sodium, a potent, second-generation proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It is primarily used for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Rabeprazole Sodium works by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme, also known as the proton pump, located in the parietal cells of the stomach lining. This inhibition reduces gastric acid production, providing relief from acid-related symptoms and promoting healing of the esophageal and stomach lining. The drug is absorbed in the small intestine and converted to its active sulfenamide form in the acidic environment of the parietal cells, where it then covalently binds to and blocks the proton pump.
