NEXGEN-PD is an experimental therapeutic vaccine for Parkinson's disease currently in preclinical development. Developed by a European consortium led by Tridem Bioscience (coordinator) and including KINETO Lab (responsible for in vivo testing), the vaccine utilizes the proprietary WISIT (Whole Immune System Targeting) platform. This platform belongs to a novel class of gluconeoconjugate vaccines (GNCVs) designed for intradermal administration. The vaccine specifically targets alpha-synuclein (aSyn) aggregates, aiming to leverage skin-resident dendritic cells to generate a potent and specific immune response to clear pathological protein aggregates, potentially offering a disease-modifying treatment for Parkinson's disease. The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program.
