NEXI-101 is an investigational, off-the-shelf injectable nanoparticle therapy developed by NexImmune using its proprietary Artificial Immune Modulation (AIM) platform. Designed for the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), NEXI-101 functions as an artificial antigen-presenting cell (APC) that presents specific peptide-MHC complexes to modulate the activity of pathogenic T cells in vivo. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its ability to delay the onset of spontaneous T1D by reducing disease-inducing memory T cells in the pancreas and pancreatic lymph nodes. Unlike NexImmune's earlier ex vivo cell therapy candidates, NEXI-101 is an injectable formulation intended to provide a more scalable approach to immunotherapy. The company plans to submit an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for NEXI-101 in the second half of 2024.
