Overview
Nexon-RD is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by KEN Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. It contains two active ingredients: esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and domperidone, a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist with prokinetic properties. Esomeprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system (the proton pump) in the gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing stomach acid secretion. Domperidone acts as a peripheral dopamine antagonist that increases gastrointestinal motility and accelerates gastric emptying by blocking dopamine receptors in the gastrointestinal tract. This combination is specifically indicated for managing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dyspepsia, and peptic ulcer disease, particularly in patients where acid reflux is accompanied by delayed gastric emptying or nausea.
