Overview

Next Gen CCR4 Antagonist is a preclinical development program by RAPT Therapeutics focused on identifying and advancing small molecule inhibitors of the C-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CCR4) for inflammatory indications. CCR4 is a G protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed on Type 2 helper T (Th2) cells, which play a central role in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis and asthma. By antagonizing CCR4, these molecules are designed to block the migration of Th2 cells into affected tissues, thereby suppressing the underlying inflammatory cascade. This program represents a follow-on effort to the company's earlier CCR4 candidate, zelnecirnon (RPT193), aiming to optimize the pharmacological and safety profile for chronic inflammatory conditions.
